Some names I recall are Sgt Espino from California. Wah was from there too. Clinton Thomas from Dupree S Dakota. An interpreter from Texas was a big kid that spoke Russian. Pete Sabilia (sp?) was from New Jersey Glad to see the history developing on the 7th ID James E Rohr Was in M Co, 75RR plt, formerly commanded by then 2nd Lt Howard Callaway, future Secretary of Army Jan 22, 1950 surrounded by Chinese while awaiting return of lost platoon size patrol from L Co Fire fight lasted til dawn with Chinese running through lines, but we held. We fired the 75 RR all night even though everyone said that because of back blast it shouldn't be engaged in night fire. The crew continued to fire right up to day light and the Chinese finally disengaged. The ROKS attached to us stated they heard No. Korean officers yelling to their men to get the big gun, but they did not succeed. The missing patrol never did reappear. | ![]() | ![]() |
